What types of service does Florida provide?

Appointment Escort Service;   is designed to reassure family members that loved ones will keep important social and medical appointments and arrive safely to and from their destination. The service is commonly used to get to and from:

  • Medical, Dental, and Grooming Appointments
  • Social Club Activities
  • Family Gatherings
  • Same Day Ambulatory Surgical Procedures
  • Emergency Room Discharges

Homemaker/Companion; is a vital non-medical service designed to promote the continuance of quality of life through support services which focus on an individual’s ability to live an active, safe and healthy lifestyle. Services include:

  • Safety Monitoring to prevent wandering and falls
  • Medication Compliance Reminders
  • Communicating Current Events
  • Reading to the Client
  • Escorting to social outings, appointments, and errands
  • Engaging client in interests and hobbies the client enjoys
  • Light housekeeping such as; vacuuming, dusting, dishwashing, preparing and serving meals, laundry, pet care & mail sorting

Personal Care; is designed to assist clients with everyday self-care activities that can be provided in combination with homemaker/companion services. Personal Care is often referred to as Activities of Daily Living or ADLs and includes activities such as;

  • Bathing
  • Dressing
  • Oral Hygiene
  • Grooming
  • Assist with Ambulation
  • Toileting

Home Health Aide;    (HHA) tasks are designed to assist individuals with; healthcare tasks, personal hygiene services, and other supportive services essential to a patient’s well being. In certain instances Home Health Aides (HHAs) are qualified to provide more complex services under the supervision of an RN. Your insurance, or Managed Care can cover HHA care, when certain criteria are met. Home Health Aide tasks include activities such as;

  • ADLs- Bathing, Grooming and Dressing
  • Meal Preparation and Nutrition Guidance
  • Medication Compliance Reminders
  • Assistance with Range of Motion Exercises
  • Taking and recording Temperature and Respirations
  • Blood Pressure and Glucose Monitoring
  • Assist with Ambulation and Transfers
  • Special Circumstance tasks under the supervision of an RN (where applicable)

Live-In Service; is 24 hour daily care that combines client care tasks and night time supervision, enabling individuals to remain in their home. Live-In service is an ideal solution for individuals who are at risk when unattended. Service can be provided on a temporary-respite, short term-recovery, or long-term basis.  Tasks generally include;

  • Companionship and Safety Monitoring for Wandering and Falls
  • ADLs- Bathing, Grooming, and Dressing
  • Meal Preparation and Nutritional Guidance
  • Medication Compliance Reminders
  • Escorting out to Medical, Dental, Social, and Grooming Appointments
  • Shopping and Errands (where applicable)
  • Assisting with Ambulation and Transfers
  • Other as determined by Client/Family and Supervising Nurse

Skilled Nursing; refers to professional nursing care. Services can be provide in the home, a facility, and on a visit or hourly basis. The decision to use an RN or LPN is dependent on the type of services required and must be consistent with scope of nursing practice under applicable state licensure regulations. Services may be covered by your insurance carrier, or Managed Care, when certain criteria are met. Florida Home Care does accept payment from Commercial Insurance for Skilled Nursing in select markets. Nursing services available include:

  • Wound Care
  • Administration or Set-Up of Oral (PO) Medications
  • Routine Administration of Maintenance Medications including Insulin
  • Post-Operative Private Duty Nursing in a Facility
  • G-tube Feeding
  • Clinical Assessments
  • Ventilator Dependent Care at Home
  • Ongoing or Intermittent Straight Catheterization
  • Suctioning of the Nasopharnyx or Nasotrachea
  • Colostomy Care
  • Sub-q & IM Injections
  • Medication Monitoring and Titration
  • Pain Management
  • Patient Controlled Analgesic (PCA) Pump Management

IV Infusion;   is the intravenous administration of therapeutics, analgesics, antibiotics, chemotherapy and parental nutrition outside a formal healthcare environment such as a hospital, out-patient clinic, or MD office.  IV infusion services can be provided on a visit or hourly basis.  Insurance companies and Managed Care Organizations often stipulate a client/family member must assume responsibility for infusing IV therapies as a condition of discharged from a facility. Clients and families may alternately decide to directly pay a home Skilled Nursing Provider to infuse and manage the IV therapy on their behalf. Services available include:

  • Continuous Administration of Pain Medication
  • Inotropic Therapies for Heart Failure
  • Immunoglobulin Therapy
  • IV Antibiotics
  • Enzyme Replacement Therapy
  • Other

Specialty Services:

Dementia Care;  Florida Home Care’s program focuses on strength based care planning and builds upon an individual’s retained cognitive and daily living skills to ensure client engagement.   Our team of  nurse educators provide caregiver specialty training on the latest in; Alzheimer’s education and dementia care techniques, disease progression, symptoms, tactics and strategies successful in maximizing an individual’s strengths, and minimizing the negative impact of challenging behaviors.  Dementia Care Services available include;

End of Life Care;   supports a family directly or in partnership with a hospice or palliative care program.  LIFE is the core focus of all end of life care. Staff receive specialty training on the physiological, psychological, and spiritual care needs of clients and families.  Services available include; Homemaker/Companion, Home Health Aide, Respite Care, Live-In, Medical Social Work* (in select markets) and Skilled Nursing.

Skilled and Non-Skilled Pediatric Services;   are designed to accommodate children with a wide range of diagnoses and chronic continuous care needs.   Registered or Licensed Practical Nurses provide skilled care, and Certified Home Health Aides provide non-skilled care under the supervision of an RN. The agency does accept payment from Medicaid and Commercial Insurance for Pediatric care in select markets. Skilled services available include:

  • Private Duty Hourly Care
  • Post-operative care
  • Ventilator Care
  • Trach Care
  • G-Tube and NG tube care.
  • Wound Care
  • IV therapy
  • 1 to 1 nursing in school

Respite Care; is intended to temporarily relieve the caregiver providing the primary support to an ill or disabled individual in an effort to decrease feelings of stress and burnout. Respite Care can be provided on a routine hourly, daily, or intermittent basis. Services available include; Escort, Homemaker/Companion, Personal Care and Home Health Aide, Live-In, and Private Duty Skilled Nursing.
